Honorable Mention

Every now and then I like to recognize fellow Zimbos who are working to make a difference. Today I would like to honor Savanna Madamombe. She is involved with the Mwana Ndi Mai initiative. Mwana Ndi Mai is a non profit organization seeking to Provide support for Zimbabwe's "invisible Children", Orphans and families left by musicians who have succumbed to HIV/AIDS in the rural and the urban's high density areas at grassroots level without further breaking the remaining family support system. Zimbabwe is a country suffering a complex humanitarian crisis of drought impacted food shortages, international isolation, and the HIV/AIDS epidemic that has affected more than 25% of its population. More than one in four adults living in Zimbabwe is infected with the AIDS virus. It is estimated that more than 1.5 million Zimbabweans are living with HIV.

My message today is every journey begins with a single step. One person can make a difference and that person is YOU. I would like to encourage everyone to do something - however small to assist with the humanitarian crisis in Zimbabwe. No act is too small, whatever you can afford to give in terms of time or resources.

Nice to know someone is actively doing something to make a difference. Some Zimbos usually like to comment from afar. Most of us have adapted the 'Nhamo yemumwe hairambirwe sadza' tendency. Let's work together to fight AIDS.
