Serenity

I came across this image and it reminded me of how Zimbo used to be. I grew up in the Eastern Highlands (kumakomoyo) and this picture represents what I grew up around. It was a picture of tranquility and serenity. The mountains of the Eastern Highlands represented abundance. Abundance in rainfall, food and quality of life. I remember how we used to go to the Chipinge-Chimanimani mountains for a quiet weekend. As I said before this was a land of abundance - almost like the biblical garden of Eden. There were fruits like apples, peaches, raspberries, plums, apricots to mention a few. Well the situation is a lot different now. We talk of Zim dollars in the millions because of depreciation, production of fruits and vegetables is almost zero because of the non-competent individuals allotted farms and as if to add salt to a gaping wound, droughts ravage the Zimbo countryside. My prediction is it is a while till Zimbo gets back to the state of abundance. It is a while till the situation is back to where it was before. I am sure you can relate to my sentiments. Things have definitely changed - for the worst. Millions are living in the diaspora and the ones that remained in the Zimboland are living hand to mouth. I came across this site and I recommend it to any Zimbo in the diaspora. The site is www.sekurubob.com and Sekuru Bob expresses his heartfelt convictions about the Zimbo situation. Let me know what you think about the current state of affairs in Zimbo........DJ Swing.
